Neeru's Story

As a little girl, I was taught about respecting and taking care of grandparents and even other elderly people, it's a way of making them feel special.
But when I moved to Kelowna from India 11 years ago, no family and acquaintances were around so I started feeling depressed. There was an emptiness in me that I can’t help my parents when they needed me the most or when I needed them. But there were many older people who showered love on me and my family during that phase.

I always used to think I should start volunteering for older people because the love they give you it’s so pure. But then I came to know about Home Instead from a friend.
It's the only noble act that has the power to reduce the stress by combating depression not only at a personal level but also in the social fabric. It also provides the real sense of purpose in life apart from the mainstream. Seniors in need deserve every possible support from the society.
I am strongly committed to empowerment. I want to be a contributor in making our families, community, and society stronger in terms of harmony.
