Etobicoke July 16, 2019. Etobicoke’s CAREGiver, Patty Bisiecki, has been nominated as an “Urban Hero”. The Urban Hero Awards are hosted by Metroland Media Toronto and aims to celebrate community heroes of all ages for their inspiring work, leadership and good deeds here in the city. The program is was launched as part of Canada’s 150th celebrations as a way to honour the people that make a difference in the lives of others and exemplify what it means to be Canadian. The Health Hero category celebrates individuals who act or advocate for the improvement of people’s health or the access to it.
From July 1 to Aug. 18, 2019 people are welcome to vote for their top choice. Eight ‘People’s Choice’ winners will be determined based on who receives the highest number of votes. Spread the word and support your nominees! After the public voting, another eight finalists will be selected by the Urban Hero Award organizing committee. The 16 Urban Hero Award winners will be announced this fall and celebrated at the awards gala on October 2019.
