Many people envision their retirement years as a time to do all the things they’ve been meaning to do for ages – travel, spend more time with grandkids, or even clean out the basement. But after a while, retirees often find themselves longing for a sense of purpose and fulfillment of a career. This certainly holds true for Mim, our CAREGiver of December 2018. As a former WSIB Consultant, Mim was dedicated to the rehabilitation and special needs of serious injury victims. Today, she uses her knowledge of home safety modifications and activities of daily living to support clients who are living with Alzheimer’s/dementia. From companionship, to helping with light housekeeping, meal preparations and grocery shopping, Mim’s ability to provide compassionate and professional support has made a positive impact on the lives of her clients. She is a great example that you can re-enter the workforce no matter your age – and we are so blessed that she has chosen Home Instead Senior Care.

As a live-in CAREGiver, Lavern travels more than one hour (each one-way) to provide 24-hour support with meal preparations, feeding, bathing, incontinence care and light housekeeping. To further illustrate her ongoing commitment, Lavern even worked throughout the holidays, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Her "can-do" attitude and nurturing presence has earned the trust and respect of the client and his family. Needless to say, we are proud to announce Lavern as our CAREGiver of the Month and confident that she will continue to make us proud. #EnhanceLives
