Our Story

A passion for helping seniors and a love for the Niagara Region led co-owners, Denielle and Jonathan, to bring Home Instead to Niagara in 2013. The couple has lived in various cities across Canada and the U.S., but it is Denielle's hometown of Niagara Falls that they choose to call home.

Both Denielle and Jonathan cherished their memories of their grandparents and were actively involved in supporting them as they age. Jonathan's grandmother moved in with the couple as her dementia progressed and eventually became Home Instead Niagara's first client.

Their personal experiences in caring for someone with dementia 24 hours/day while caring for a young family allow them to understand the struggles and hardships families face.

In Niagara, Home Instead's goal is to be a resource for the community and help families navigate how best to support their ageing loved ones. They want to share their experiences and expertise to further Home Instead's global mission: change the face of ageing.

To Us, It’s Personal®

Our founders, Paul and Lori Hogan, launched Home Instead in 1994 to provide care to Paul’s 90-year-old grandmother. Remarkably, after she began receiving personalized, in-home care that allowed her to age safely in the place she loved most – the family home – Grandma Manhart thrived for an additional decade!

That’s why, to us, senior care is personal. We’re passionate about expanding the world’s capacity to care.
