In 2009, Debbie Franchuk, RN BN, opened the first local office after identifying the need to provide seniors, aging adults and their families with quality Home Care options. For over 15 years, we have been the trusted provider to care for seniors and aging adults. Our team now provides care for all of Calgary, Airdrie, Okotoks, Chestermere, Strathmore, Cochrane and the surrounding areas. Families love our team because we:

Debbie Franchuk, RN, Co-Owner, Director of Care
Caring for people has always been a part of Debbie’s life. This interest began at an early age when her sister was critically injured. This opened Debbie’s eyes to caring for others and ultimately led her to pursue a career in Nursing.
Debbie has a distinguished career at Alberta Health Services, there she built a reputation based upon nursing excellence. Debbie has had extensive experience with Home Care and Transition services. In these roles, Debbie saw firsthand the need for in-home care which the public system was not meeting. This inspired Debbie to open a Home Instead office to meet that need and provide a solution.
As Director of Care, Debbie is able to use her nursing skills and professional experiences to help families navigate the system and customize unique care plans for each client. Debbie’s credibility is one of the reasons that Home Instead is the right choice for families who are seeking support for their elderly loved ones.
Fred Franchuk, Co-Owner, Managing Partner
Fred cares deeply about relationships, he has an old fashioned sense of customer service. He has built a career based upon anticipating and exceeding customer expectations. This high calibre of customer service is constantly being taught to our entire staff and he ensures that our clients and their family's needs are met and exceeded.
Fred has worked with teams and organizations where he has built a reputation by raising standards for customer service and satisfaction. Aside from working behind the scenes to manage operations, Fred is continually providing direction and painting the picture of our future as a company. His leadership is one of the key elements that makes our team successful.
He also spends a significant amount of time out in our community sharing information about Home Instead with Seniors Residences and Hospitals while continuing to meet with clients and families.
Stephen Franchuk, B MGT, Vice President
After providing support to various departments within the organization, it was a natural decision for Stephen to be promoted to the Vice President. His ability to listen and understand helps to solve little problems before they grow, while simultaneously coaching and guiding the support team to meet the demanding and complex needs of our clients and their families.
Along with the management of the scheduling department, Stephen also manages our web marketing, social media and will often be seen in the community at various events. Always here to help, Stephen is not afraid to do whatever it takes to keep a client or employee happy.
Paige Franchuk, CPA, Controller
Paige handles the bookkeeping, high-level accounting tasks and controls within the company.
After working at a public accounting firm for five years and obtaining her CPA designation, she decided to switch roles to work with Home Instead so her skills could be transferred to provide purpose and meaning to older adults.
After watching the Franchuk's grow Home Instead over the years, it seemed like an natural transition to Paige as the job aligned well with her goals and values to do meaningful work. Older adults are important to Paige as she has a very close relationship with her grandparents and sees the need for high quality, personalized senior care.
Paige loves to golf outside of work and spend time with her husband and Golden Retriever, Bentley.
Sandy Materi, LPN, Client Care Manager
Sandy brings a wealth of nursing knowledge and hands-on experience to her role as Client Care Manager. Trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse and specially certified as an Advanced Foot Care Nurse, she offers clients a deeper understanding of lower leg and foot health.
Drawing on her nursing background, Sandy skillfully guides our Care Team and works closely with families to help them navigate the often-complex health care system. She takes the time to listen, answer questions, and explain options so that families feel informed and supported in making the best choices for their loved ones.
Sandy is dedicated to creating personalized care plans tailored to each client’s unique needs and preferences. Whether it’s coordinating services, offering education, or providing reassurance during difficult decisions, she ensures that seniors receive the highest quality care while families gain peace of mind knowing their loved one is in compassionate, capable hands.
Tia Quinn, LPN, Case Manager
As a dedicated Case Manager at Home Instead, Tia plays a key role in guiding families through the journey of home care. From that first call for information to coordinating ongoing care, Tia’s passion for helping seniors shines through in every interaction. What she enjoys most is seeing the positive, life-changing impact that home care has on both clients and their families.
With over a decade of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Tia brings extensive expertise in long-term care settings, behavior units, and home care. Her deep-rooted passion for working with seniors led her to join Home Instead, where she’s able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Calgarians.
Allison Kuhn, Case Manager, LPN
"Hi, my name is Allison and I am a Case Manager at Home Instead.
"As a Case Manager I have the privilege of meeting with clients and families to listen to their needs and then customize a personalized care plan. This allows the client to remain in the comfort of their own surroundings for a longer period of time. I also act as a guide and support system for our skilled and professional care professionals.
"This role is meaningful to me because I have the opportunity to make a positive impact on clients and their families, while giving them the dignity and respect they deserve. I find immense satisfaction in my role as a Case Manager because I get to advocate for seniors and their families and/or closest support system. I value the relationships that I have the opportunity to build with clients and their families. I enjoy hearing their stories, and understanding their needs to ensure all the appropriate resources are in place, all while working collaboratively to find solutions, which is incredibly rewarding.

Meagan Stokke, LPN, Case Manager
Hello! I’m Meagan, a Licensed Practical Nurse and Case Manager with Home Instead. I create personalized Care Plans based on each client’s unique needs, taking the time to understand their goals, preferences, and challenges. As a liaison between clients and Care Professionals, I provide guidance, answer questions, and ensure communication flows smoothly so care is delivered with consistency and compassion. My goal is to ease worries, offer education, and advocate for both clients and their families every step of the way.
I began my journey with Home Instead as a Care Professional and fell in love with supporting seniors in our community. That hands-on experience gave me valuable insight into the meaningful relationships that form through care — and it continues to guide how I support families today. I’m passionate about helping seniors maintain their independence and live comfortably and safely at home.
When I’m not at the office, you can find me exploring the mountains, spending time with friends and family, or relaxing with a good book and my cat on my lap.
Kirsten Materi, Case Manager
Kirsten works on our team as a Case Manager. She truly enjoys being able to support both Clients and Care Pros alike.
Born and raised in Calgary, Kirsten is thrilled to be able to give back to her community in a meaningful way; by helping our seniors stay in their homes while ensuring that they are receiving the best possible care.
She also eases the minds of their loved ones knowing they are safe and secure with Home Instead. Kirsten chose Home Instead because she knows that we provide the highest quality of care and support, its personal and thoughtful to both the Client and Care Pro.
On Kirsten’s days off you can find her hiking in the great Rocky Mountains, spending time with her friends and family or reading a good book!
Christie Harasemchuk, Case Manager

Tracy Pratt, LPN, Case Manager
Hello! I’m Tracy Pratt, and I’m a Case Manager with Home Instead. Caring for others is all I’ve ever known, and I truly can’t imagine doing anything else. In my role, I support both clients and Care Professionals by listening closely to each person’s needs, helping create personalized care plans, and ensuring that seniors receive the respect, dignity, and compassion they deserve.
Before joining Home Instead, I spent 28 years working in palliative care within the community. That experience shaped who I am as a Case Manager and deepened my commitment to supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most meaningful moments. I chose Home Instead because of its singular focus on dignity for seniors; something that strongly aligns with my own values and the work I feel called to do.
When I’m not working, you can find me watching movies or documentaries, spending time with my partner and our four cats, or FaceTiming my daughter in Montreal.
Vanessa McCarthy, LPN, Case Manager
"My name is Vanessa, and I’m a Case Manager at Home Instead.
"My role is to discuss ways we at Home Instead can provide support to new, and potential clients that is customized to their unique situations and needs. As well as to ensure our current clients are receiving the best care possible.
"This role is meaningful to me because I can make an impactful change in people's lives and support them in their homes, and ease stressors that they and their loved ones may be facing. I love connecting with clients, and seeing the positive impact that supporting them has made on them and their families."
Tamara Dhillion, Operations Manager
With over 10 years of scheduling experience, Tamara plays a key role in ensuring families feel supported and cared for. As Operations Manager, she brings both problem-solving skills and a compassionate, client-focused approach. Tamara understands that every family’s situation is unique, and she works tirelessly to make scheduling care as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Her deep knowledge of our Care Professional team allows her to thoughtfully match the right Care Pros with the right clients, creating meaningful connections and ensuring seniors receive the personalized care they deserve. By taking the time to get to know both families and Care Pros, Tamara builds schedules that foster trust, consistency, and long-term relationships.
Tamara is passionate about making sure every Care Professional feels prepared and supported, so that each client enjoys a positive, dependable, and enriching care experience. Families value her caring nature, attention to detail, and commitment to providing care that feels truly personalized.
Tori Siminoski, Lead Scheduling Manager
Tori joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver in 2020 because she wanted to pursue a career that would make a difference in the lives of others!
Today Tori works as a Lead Scheduling Manager where she helps organize care for seniors while supporting the Care Pros on shift. Each day she works with Families to ensure their loved ones are receiving the highest quality of care.
When asked what she enjoyed most about Caregiving Tori said “It was knowing that I was helping seniors to remain happy and healthy in their own homes”. Tori uses her experience as a Care Pro to help make successful matches between seniors and Care Pros as she knows first-hand what’s important to seniors in our community. Tori relies on these experiences to help coach other Care Pros when they are working with clients.
Bree Stubbs, Lead Scheduling Manager
"My name is Bree and I am Lead Scheduling Manger here at Home Instead.
"I started my career here as a Care Professional and have since joined the management team. I loved being a Care Professional and knowing that I was making a difference to my clients and helping them when they needed it most.
"I wanted to become a Scheduling Manager so I could make a difference in both the Care Professionals life and the clients families life in a much more in depth way. What makes my job so meaningful is the long lasting connections we can create between Care Professionals and clients. This job is very rewarding and provides me with deep gratification knowing the difference I have made in peoples lives.

Jessica O’Neil, Lead Scheduling Manager
Jessica Works as a Lead Scheduling Manager where she helps match Care Professionals to our clients. She takes extra time to learn about each Care Pro and each client to make meaningful matches.

I fell in love with being there to support seniors in all aspects of their daily lives - it's a rewarding job that I’m happy I get to be a part of. I had the support of the care team and managers along the way that helped me grow as an individual to better serve seniors in need. Virginia Strobel, Scheduling Manager
I'm Virginia, and I serve as a Scheduling Manager here at Home Instead, where I coordinate our care services to ensure seniors receive the support they need and deserve! My role involves managing schedules and logistics to deliver seamless care experiences for clients and their families. What makes my work truly meaningful is the impact I make in the lives of seniors, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life.
I particularly love connecting with the Care Professionals, building relationships that enhance our entire care team. This allows me to better match our Care Pro’s to the older adults that we serve. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, hiking with my husband and my dog Nova, and spending quality time with friends.

Hi, I’m Esther, a Scheduling Manager here at Home Instead. I provide guidance to our care professionals, making sure them and every client gets the support they need, when they need it. It’s really meaningful to know that my work helps families feel at ease and cared for. One of the things I love most about my role is getting to connect with so many kind and dedicated people every day.
As a Scheduling Manager I get to make authentic relationships with our Care Pros and Clients so that our clients get the care they need and the Care Pros have the support when they need it. When I’m not at work, you might find me out kayaking and spending time with my nieces.
Linda Heilman, Accounting Assistant
Hi, I’m Linda. I started my career with Home Instead in 2013 as the Administrative Assistant. I was the “Caregiver” of the office!
"I retired in 2018 but returned in 2020 as the Accounting Assistant, taking over the invoicing and payroll for Home Instead. I enjoy the challenge and the satisfaction of completing both jobs with a high level of accuracy. Although I work behind the scenes, I love how our office team is dedicated to providing their best, whether it’s training new Care Professionals or providing care for your loved ones. I pride myself in ensuring there is a high accuracy in my work.
