Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI)- Leduc, AB
Receive better Home Care for Seniors at a Subsidized Cost
If you are in need of in-home support to assist with your daily living, you may be eligible to have your Home Instead provided care funded by Alberta Health Services (AHS). Home Instead is an approved vendor under AHS's Client Directed Home Care Invoicing program for providing in-home care to seniors who need assistance with personal care, dementia support, meal preparation, transportation, light housekeeping, and more
What is the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program?
Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI) is an invoicing program initiated by AHS that allows individuals who have been approved for subsidy to choose their own home care provider. Instead of settling on generic home care that provides the bare minimum support, this empowers your loved one to have a say in the type of care that they receive without compromising your budget. Home Instead is the preferred choice of both seniors and AHS Case Managers for the consistency, stability, and personalization that it provides, allowing seniors to get the support they need with the help of AHS subsidy. By choosing Home Instead as the provider of your AHS funded care, you're covered from companionship to palliative care, and everything in between.
If you have already been assessed by AHS and approved to receive home care, you are eligible to use CDHCI to choose your own provider. If you have not yet been approved by AHS for funding, you will need to contact AHS and request an assessment for approval.
Once you have received the approval from Alberta Health Services Home Care, you can now use these subsidized hours to receive Home Care from Home Instead.
These services can include:

Personal Care-Bathing, Toileting, Grooming, Dressing and more

See the steps below to get started
- If you have not been approved for home care, call Health Link at 811 to request a home care assessment with AHS.
- It may take some time to book and complete an assessment. If you are in need of care right away and are okay with paying out of pocket for care until you are approved for funding, call Home Instead today to book a complimentary care consultation.
- Once an AHS nurse conducts your in-home assessment and approves you for home care (or if you were already approved or receiving care through the AHS assigned provider) inform your AHS Case Manager that you would like to use CDHCI and select your own care provider.
- Your AHS Case Manager will calculate the number of care hours that you have been approved for, have you sign an agreement, and set an activation date.
- You are then able to use your approved hours towards an approved care provider such as Home Instead. Contact Home Instead directly to discuss care planning and scheduling.
- If you were already receiving care, inform your AHS Case Manager of the date you plan to transfer care, and it should be a seamless transition.
- Home Instead invoices Alberta Blue Cross for approved care amounts.
