Personal Support Worker (PSW) – 1:1 Care | No Facility Burnout | Peterborough, ON

At Home Instead, you will provide one-on-one home care, allowing you to slow down, focus on your client, and deliver the quality care you were trained to provide.

This is a PSW job in home care where you are respected, supported, and given the time to truly make a difference.

We offer 15–40 hours per week, with longer visits and consistent client assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with activities of daily living, including personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and rise/retire routines)
• Supporting safe mobility, transfers, and fall prevention using proper body mechanics
• Providing companionship and cognitive, social, and emotional support
• Assisting with light housekeeping, laundry, and household tasks
• Preparing nutritious meals and snacks, including special diets, while following food safety practices
• Providing medication reminders in accordance with care plans
• Promoting a safe home environment and monitoring changes in client condition
• Supporting families through respite care and maintaining client independence

Qualifications & Abilities

• PSW certificate and caregiving experience
• A valid driver’s license and vehicle
• Favourable professional references
• Clear Vulnerable Sector
• Ability to take the initiative
• Collaborative team player
• Passion for providing high-quality, relationship-based care
