Be A Santa To A Senior
Everyone knows that as soon as November 1st hits, it’s time to get excited for the Holiday season! Here at Home Instead, November means that ‘Be A Santa to a Senior’ is just around the corner! What is Be a Santa to a Senior? Each year, Home Instead offices throughout North America spread holiday cheer to lonely or financially challenged seniors through this program. The aim is to spread holiday cheer throughout your local community.
How does it work? Home Instead partners with local non-profit community organizations to identify seniors who might not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season. Then, the company works with local businesses and retail stores to help facilitate the purchase and distribution of gifts by placing trees and ornaments within their various locations. Each senior’s gift requests are written on a Be a Santa to a Senior bulb found on the Christmas tree. What an amazing way to give back to the community. And what better time to do something nice than throughout the Holiday season?
Since the program began in 2003, volunteers have helped distribute over 20,000,000 gifts provided to over 750,000 deserving seniors whose holiday was brightened.
Here is the process
- Go to our Facebook Events page to find a participating location.
- Go to a tree location and choose an ornament.
- Purchase the requested gift(s) listed on the ornament.
- Return the wrapped gift with the ornament attached to the tree location.
- Home Instead and community partners will collect and distribute the gifts in time for Christmas.
