Joane Marie Cabungcal began her journey in Canada as an international student, bringing with her a strong passion for healthcare and a deep commitment to making a meaningful difference in people's lives. Back in the Philippines, she worked as a Medical Technologist in a hospital setting, where she played an important role in supporting accurate diagnoses and patient care. Her dedication to helping others led her to transition into a Human Resources role within the home care industry. When she learned about the organization's mission to provide compassionate, dignified care to seniors, she felt an immediate personal connection. Inspired by her own grandmother, who remains a significant source of motivation despite living far away, Joane takes pride in supporting services that ensure seniors receive the respect and care they deserve. Joane's journey with Home Instead Grimsby has been especially meaningful. She was part of the team during the early stages of building the office, contributing to its growth from its foundational phase. Being involved in the expansion of services and witnessing the positive impact on clients, families, and Care Professionals has strengthened her passion for the work she does. With over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry, I built a career centered around leadership, service, and people. However, it was a deeply personal chapter in my life that ultimately led me to discover my true passion. When my father-in-law was diagnosed with Parkinson's and dementia, I stepped away from my career to care for him. During that time, I found a profound sense of purpose in supporting seniors-ensuring they felt safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. That experience changed the course of my professional life. Coming from a large, close-knit family where care and connection are at the heart of everything we do, I've always believed in treating others like family. I carried that mindset into my work with Home Instead in Brantford, where I had the privilege of supporting many seniors and helping them remain in the comfort of their own homes. Building meaningful relationships with my clients and making a positive impact in their daily lives became one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. I'm passionate about bringing caregivers and seniors together-helping families find the compassionate, dependable support they deserve. It's incredibly fulfilling to now play a part in matching the right people and ensuring quality care for those who need it most. Outside of work, I'm a proud parent to three daughters and a grandparent to one granddaughter. You'll often find me cheering at sporting events, spending time by the water, or enjoying peaceful getaways on Manitoulin Island.

I am a Recreational Therapist and a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician in the Philippines, and with hands-on experience in medical and long-term care settings, I have developed a strong foundation in supporting individuals with complex needs, particularly with seniors. I also volunteered at the 'Home of the Aged' during my college years because I am passionate about learning how to provide high-quality care to older adults. Throughout my journey, I have gained meaningful experiences working with the residents with advanced dementia in the long-term care settings. These experiences had been shaped me into a more patient, empathetic, and become more passionate to help other people to the best of my ability. I always practice person-centred care with everybody to ensure that each of them feels heard, valued, and loved genuinely. The strong leadership, the genuine connections I've built with our beloved clients, and the privilege of caring for them based on their unique needs I've found a deeper sense of purpose in what I do and in what I'm passionate about. The company's constant reminder to always give our best, be professional and always deliver high-quality of care has truly shaped me and has planted something meaningful within me-a passion and a commitment that continue to guide my growth not only as a professional but as a human being with a genuine desire to provide help and care for those in need.
