Home Instead Employees Found Fulfilling Jobs

Why should someone consider a Care Professional job with Home Instead® of Clearwater? There’s nothing better in life, Care Pro of the Month Breasia said, than helping someone who is in need. Job fulfillment is that much sweeter when the companionship aspect is considered.

“What I like most about being a Care Pro is getting to know the people for whom we’re caring. We know their routines, what they like to eat, what their favorite color is, even how they like their hair done. We learn their lives’ stories. They are living history books,” Breasia said. “They are people with whom I can laugh, folks with whom I can roll through life. You’d be surprised how much we learn just by being in their lives no matter how short or long we’ve been with them. Just knowing I was a big help for someone who really needed it keeps me going. That’s true fulfillment – being the best I can be for someone.”

Most Home Instead Care Pros at the award-winning Clearwater franchise went online to find their jobs, and there is a user-friendly online application process. Some Care Pros called the Clearwater office at (727) 490-6293 to learn more and set up interviews. Others visited the friendly office staff at 14202 62nd Street North in Clearwater about four blocks east of U.S. Highway 18 on 142nd Avenue North.

What Our Care Professional Say About Us

Care Pro of the Month Juan said: “I love being able to connect with people and helping them. I appreciate and enjoy the Home Instead staff. The staff is very helpful and supportive of my role. My client, Fred, always treats me the same as his son. He always says he wants to adopt me as his own.”

On Michael’s first day as a Care Pro, he helped a six-year Home Instead client and made quite an impression. After that day, the client’s son always called the Home Instead office staff and asked for Michael. The son noted that his father had immediately bonded with Michael. “One of the great things about the assignments is that the schedulers know the personalities of the clients and the Care Pros and do a good job of matching,” Michael said. “The office also is flexible.”

What is it that Care Pros such as Breasia, Juan and Michael do on their jobs? They provide physical help such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders or personal care or offer emotional support in a companionship role. Care Pros not only assist their clients, but they help their clients’ families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom. “Touching lives impacts the Care Pros’ souls,” said JC Crady (pictured bottom-left above), director of Care Professional services.

Asked what she likes most about her job as a Home Instead Care Pro, Ana said: “Nothing is boring or has ‘a sameness.’ Every client is a challenge for me because they are different, and my goal is to make sure that they have what they need when I am there. I just put myself in their place and treat them the way I would want to be treated, and I do that with respect.”

Ana feels she’s part of a multi-cultural family as a result of a memorable client experience. “I took care of a Japanese client from 2016 through 2021. She was always happy to see me, and I was with her almost until the end of her life. Her children adopted me as another sister, so I have my Japanese family, and we still stay in touch,” said Ana, who embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.”

Care Pro of the Month Laura said: “Some clients have a way of brightening a Care Pro’s day.” One such client was 76 years old and was in the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s, but she still enjoyed the finer things in life and depended on Laura to help her. Laura transported the client during shopping trips and restaurant visits. They were like grandmother-granddaughter outings.

For Care Pro of the Month Chris, senior care is a ministry and a fulfilling change from her previous job. Chris had labored in an office for most of her working years, having retired from the Department of Public Welfare in Pennsylvania. “I was no longer happy with that type of work. I felt God was placing a calling on my heart to help the elderly or disabled,” Chris said.

In summary, Care Pros have found supportive and gregarious managers, franchise honors, awards and recognition, productive and relevant training programs, scheduling flexibility, competitive salaries, awesome colleagues and the job fulfillment of taking care of appreciative seniors who sometimes just need someone who will listen.

One Care Pro said: “There’s usually as much or as little work as you want to take on. For someone who is in her 70s, that’s a great thing for me.” Asked what her future holds, Care Pro of the Month Mary Jane said: “I probably will be with Home Instead until I decide to retire.”
