About Us

Meet Our Team

Alice McCarron,  President

Alice McCarron, President

As President, Alice oversees and manages all areas of the business. She has over 20 years' experience working in and providing counsel to health care and senior care companies.

Prior to acquiring Home Instead Senior Care, Alice was the Vice President of Public Relations and practice lead for Colour Creative Persuasion. Before Colour, she was Vice President, Business Development and Marketing for Heritage Gas and previously General Manager for Stericycle.

Outside of her practice, Alice has actively engaged in a number of initiatives to build a better community. She is a shareholder and board member of Chebucto Pockwock Lake Wind Field Limited. She also serves on Committees for the IWK Health Foundation, Saint Mary's University and Thyroid Cancer Care Nova Scotia. She served on the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Board of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and was a member of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce's Provincial Affairs Policy Committee.

Alice has a BBA from St. Francis Xavier University and an MBA from Saint Mary's University.

Brittany Keough,  Director, Service & Engagement

Brittany Keough, Director, Service & Engagement

As the Director of Service & Engagement, Brittany connects with families and community members by presenting Public Education Programs and sharing how the Home Instead Senior Care team can work to deliver home care solutions. She is also responsible for enhancing and maintaining relationships with new and existing referral sources. Brittany believes strongly in a collaborative approach to care and takes pride in the knowledge she has gained since joining the Home Instead team in June 2015. Brittany is passionate about ensuring clients are receiving the best care possible.

Brittany graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a Certificate in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology. Her personal experience with her grandfather's Alzheimer's disease, made her realize the need for professional care and assistance.

When Brittany is not working, she loves spending time with her family, taking yoga and barre classes, spending time at her cottage, travelling and going on walks with her miniature dachshund, Enso.

Tammy Lovett,  Client Care Coordinator

Tammy Lovett, Client Care Coordinator

Before moving to Nova Scotia in 2000 with her twin sister, Tammy attended Concordia University and majored in Sociology, though, Tammy was always drawn towards Gerontology. Once Tammy came to this realization, that her passion was to care to the elderly, she pursued a career in nursing and has worked as an LPN since 2003.

Prior to working with Home Instead, Tammy worked in Long Term Care and then in the community with the VON. Tammy is excited to bring her knowledge and skills she’s gained in her past roles to the team at Home Instead and she is glad she can continue with her nursing experience to make a difference in our clients lives. She is passionate about fulfilling client’s needs so they can remain independent in their homes for as long as possible.

When Tammy isn’t working, she enjoys reading, cooking and spending time outdoors with her son, daughter and husband.

Deanna

Deanna Steiger, Client Care Coordinator

Deanna graduated from Nova Scotia Community College in 2008 with certification from the Continuing Care Assistant Program. After graduating, Deanna worked 12 years in Long Term Care, 8 of those years working on the dementia unit.

Deanna went on to work 2 years in homecare where she loved being in the community, meeting new people, and assisting them to remain at home. Deanna is passionate about aging adults remaining independent in their own homes as her father has MS and one day, she wants to ensure he has the necessary support and care in place to remain in his own home.

When Deanna is not working, she loves to cheer on her daughter at her softball games. She also enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Tanya

Tanya Wilkinson, Service Manager

Tanya joined the Home Instead team in 2020. She comes from 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry but her passion for serving others brought her to Home Instead. In her past role, as General Manager, she has developed skills transferable to her role as a Service Manager.

As a Service Manager, Tanya is responsible for scheduling clients and CAREGivers and committed to creating compatible matches to guarantee great relationships.

In Tanya's spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two children and her friends. She also enjoys going for walks and cooking.

Alyssa

Alyssa Ewing, Service Coordinator

​Prior to joining the Home Instead team, Alyssa worked at the Lord Nelson Hotel where she was a Night Audit Supervisor. Alyssa has a Recreation and Leisure Studies Degree from Brock University, where she majored in Outdoor Recreation and minored in History.

As Service Coordinator, Alyssa is responsible for matching and scheduling clients and CAREGivers to provide quality care for our clients.

When Alyssa is not working, she enjoys hiking and camping. Alyssa loves spending time with her boxer, Mendez.

Nicole

Nicole Fougere, Service Coordinator

Nicole attended Nova Scotia Community College Kingstec Campus with certification from the Continuing Care Assistant Program in 2014. Nicole has 6 years’ experience caring for seniors in nursing homes and homecare. Nicole is passionate about making sure seniors and CAREGivers have the best experience as possible with Home Instead.

When Nicole is not working, she enjoys camping, being active outside, baking, and spending time with her family. 

Crystal

Crystal Fidely, Service Coordinator & Lead CAREGiver

Before moving to Nova Scotia, Crystal worked with the Water and Sewerage Authority of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean for over 10 years as a Utilities Supervisor and decided to pursue a career in Drafting.

Crystal moved to Nova Scotia in 2018 to study Architectural Drafting at Nova Scotia Community College. During her studies, Crystal started working part time with Home Instead in 2019 as a CAREGiver. Once she started working with seniors she fell in love with this line of work and knew that this is what she wanted to continue to do. In the future, Crystal would like to become a nurse.

When Crystal is not working, she loves spending time with her two children, cooking, and baking. Crystal also enjoys discovering and learning more about Nova Scotia. She is pleased to call Nova Scotia her home and Home Instead her family. 

Tori Image

Tori Jackson, Human Resources & Training Coordinator

Tori attended Nova Scotia Community College Ivany Campus with certification from the Continuing Care Assistant Program in 2019. Tori has 4 years’ experience in providing care for seniors. Prior to attending NSCC she worked as a Human Resource Manager for The Lobster Dive Inc. Tori is passionate about making a difference in the lives of our clients by providing them with the best care possible in their own homes.

When Tori is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking with her dogs, and spending time on the water in the summer.  

Taylor Foster

Taylor Foster, Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator

Taylor attended Saint Mary’s University in Halifax and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Psychology. Taylor started working with Home Instead in July 2022 as a Care Pro after she graduated university and came to love caring for seniors and became very passionate about providing care to others.

In her role as the Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator, Taylor is responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training, and engagement of employees in order to provide the highest quality of service to aging adults in our community.

While Taylor is not working, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going for hikes, and reading a good book.

Stephanie Heighton, Accounting Manager

As the Accounting Manager, Stephanie aims to provide prompt and accurate financial reporting for our Clients, CAREGivers, as well as the Management Team.  Her previous accounting experience has been in residential and commercial construction, residential/commercial leasing, and home care.   

When not at work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 boys (usually in a hockey rink!).
