Meet Our Home Care Team

Debbie Franchuk, RN, Co-Owner, Director of Care

Caring for people has always been a part of Debbie’s life. This interest began at an early age when her sister was critically injured. This opened Debbie’s eyes to caring for others and ultimately led her to pursue a career in Nursing. Debbie has a distinguished career at Alberta Health Services, there she built a reputation based upon nursing excellence. Debbie has had extensive experience with Home Care and Transition services. In these roles, Debbie saw firsthand the need for in-home care which the public system was not meeting. This inspired Debbie to open a Home Instead office to meet that need and provide a solution. As Director of Care, Debbie is able to use her nursing skills and professional experiences to help families navigate the system and customize unique care plans for each client. Debbie’s credibility is one of the reasons that Home Instead is the right choice for families who are seeking support for their elderly loved ones.

It’s about the connections and bonds you make with absolute strangers and making the uncomfortable comfortable. Homecare is about caring for one’s wellbeing and doing what it takes to meet expectations than exceeding those expectations by going out of your way to make someone feel special. My name is Carmen and I am a LPN working with Home Instead as a Client Care Coordinator. After graduating from the Practical Nursing Program in Vancouver I moved to Calgary with my family. Here I worked in a variety of healthcare settings and after working for some years in a Long Term Care facility I realized that my nursing call was to work in the community with older adults. This came after I’ve seen many seniors struggling to adapt to the Long Term Care and suffering emotionally for the loss of their home. Some of them never adapted no matter how good the care was and they were each day in tears. I decided to go and work in the community and help with my nursing care the seniors to remain safe as much time as possible in their home.

Home Instead is a company that make this goal become a reality and I am very happy to be part of this team that goes above and beyond to care for the seniors and their families. I use my free time to cook or garden or simply watch movies with my family, spend my holidays going with them outdoors, sometimes in the summer my husband and I like to go kayaking.
