Home Instead Giving Back

The founders of Home Instead, Paul and Lori Hogan, began awarding cash donations in the local franchise owner’s name when significant milestones were hit. We are thrilled to announce that through the dedication and hard work of our Care Professionals and support staff, we have been awarded $30,000 to be donated in our name with two main conditions: the beneficiary had to be a non-profit and they had to serve the elderly in our community. The following is a brief history/write-up of the two non-profits we chose:

Project Compassion

Project Compassion began in 1972 when Gloria White visited a friend living in a nursing home. She was stunned by the number of residents who had no visitors. It started as a one-to-one visitation program and that is still the heartbeat of the organization.

What We Do: Our mission is to bring joy, companionship, and quality of life to residents of nursing homes.

How: Over 300 volunteers provide one-to-one visits, assist with group activities such as cards, crafts, bingo, and pet and music therapies. There is never a fee for our services. https://www.projectcompassioninc.com/

WestArk RSVP-

What We Aim To Do: Strengthen communities through volunteering, Assist low-moderate income families, Provide support and companionship to the elderly, Address community needs across our service area, Support local senior centers, food banks, and community organizations

What Our Volunteers Do: Deliver meals to the homebound, Prepare Federal & State Income Tax Returns, Assist Medicare beneficiaries, Serve local non-profit agencies with their time and expertise, Provide support to the elderly, Meet community needs across our service area focusing on economic opportunity, education and healthy futures.

WestArk RSVP is a proactive volunteer clearinghouse that recruits and connects active adults, ages 55 or older, with a variety of volunteer opportunities within their communities.  Direct services are provided to the community, enabling RSVP volunteers to make a difference in the lives of seniors, Medicare beneficiaries, and working families.

RSVP is an organization like no other!  While there are many generous and willing volunteers eager to become involved in community service, often times there’s a disconnect between those who need help and those willing to provide it.  WestArk RSVP bridges that gap.  Our mission is to promote volunteerism across an eight county area in Northwest Arkansas, consisting of Benton, Boone, Carroll, Crawford, Madison, Marion, Sebastian, and Washington counties.

RSVP member volunteers choose how and where they want to serve.  Some continue the type of work they've always enjoyed, while others choose a completely new path.  Our volunteers serve in senior centers, hospitals, food banks, libraries, and other community organizations. Whether it's delivering a hot meal to a shut-in, preparing an income tax return, or submitting an application for Medicare Extra Help, the members of WestArk RSVP get great satisfaction from volunteering.
