Caregiver of the Month – March 2023

Congratulations, Jessica L, for being our Caregiver of the Month for March 2023!!

Jessica joined us last year and has shone through to being one of our brightest and best care pros! She always has a smile and treats everyone around her with warmth and kindness. All her clients have nothing but praise for her work ethic and wonderful personality. Her ability to adapt and provide quality to care to every client has been the key to her success.

Thank you for the amazing work you do Jessica, we are blessed to have a genuine and talented Care Pro like you in our team!

Where were you born? Where did you grow up?

I was born and grew up in New Taipei City, north of Taiwan, a beautiful country surrounded by the sea.

How long have you worked at Home Instead?

I have been working as a caregiver with HISC since July 2022. I am really thankful to Ms. Achini, Shelly, Cassandra and Mr. Harpreet because they were so kind during my first interview in Canada. That was very impressive and encouraging.

Any particular stories with a client you would like to share?

My very first client was a European couple, who were both really warm and friendly. I treat them as my family and always want to do the best for them. The gentleman said he had been to Taiwan over 50 times because of his business, and he really want to improve upon his Mandarin, which gave us a great opportunity to bond. The lady loved knitting and crocheting and had lots of yarns and needles in her little knitting room. She is my knitting instructor, and we would end up spending lots of time knitting and discussing patterns and design ideas. They also have 3 lovely cats, and sometimes I get to care for them and have fun with cats. I appreciate and feel fortunate to have met them as my first clients at Home Instead.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m 26 years old. I was born in a warm and loving family. My family always supported my decisions and dreams. I wanted to be a nurse when I was young. I was very determined and I pursued my education and became a registered nurse in Taiwan, working in the respiratory care ward. After that, I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone, so I decided to come to Canada to study a postgraduate program related to nursing.

I really enjoy my work in caregiving because it gives me the opportunity to care for my clients and also gives me the flexibility to focus on my studies.

God bless you, Jessica!
