About Us
Meet Our Team

Manny Hernandez, Director of Operations

After over a decade in the finance industry, Manny came to Home Instead as a way to honor his late Grandmother Ora’s legacy. Having personally shared in the caring duties in the latter part of Grandma Ora's life, he recognized the positive impact that person-centered, reliable, high-quality care can have on a family. As the Franchise Owner and Director of Operations at Home Instead Redlands, he proudly supported the team in providing over thirty six thousand hours of care in 2022 and enjoys making a difference in so many people’s lives.

For Manny, the entire operation is built on the pillars of providing the highest quality of care to clients, peace of mind to their families and appreciation for the loving work done by the team. He believes in always doing the right thing, delivering on his commitments, setting goals and that nothing is more important than family. He and his wife, Nancy, have three young boys plus a Labrador Retriever. They all enjoy spending quality time together outdoors, cheering for one of the kids at little league games, participating in boy scout adventures, cycling and watching a good movie.

Nanette Peykani, HR Director/ Assistant Vice-President

In 2011 Nanette was a busy Chamber of Commerce Executive, wife and mother and learned her Grandparents were in failing health.  It was quickly apparent she would become their primary caregiver, but knew absolutely nothing about senior care, hospice, etc… For one year she  learned every day about senior needs through personal experience; the emotional, spiritual, and physical challenges, but most of all,  the dignity and respect required to provide care to aging adults.  There were days when she felt as though she was failing miserably and there were days when she felt grace.  There was new language as well: “Assisted Living”, “Skilled Nursing”, “Home Care”.  There were systems to learn: Medicare benefits, pharmacy coverage, filling prescriptions, managing multiple doctor’s appointments, the parameters of hospice care...  And then there were physical challenges; how to help someone with mobility issues, how to help them with toileting or bathing, how to fold and unfold a wheelchair, how to not lose patience with a loved one with dementia.  When raising children, she read books such as "What to Expect When You’re Expecting", but did not have a book about expectations when caring for Grandparents.

Nanette says she would not trade that time with them for the world though. "My Grandparents helped to raise me, and it was the greatest gift to be able to return care and support to them." Unfortunately, within a year they both passed away.  As her daily routines returned to life before senior care, she realized that she had learned a lot and wanted to be able to share that information to help others. She now personally screens all Care Professionals for Home Instead Redlands, ensuring that they each possess the loving heart to provide care in our community and that they are knowledgeable about the many different aspects of person-centered care. "I knew if I ever had the opportunity to work within the senior care industry I would jump at the chance." Nanette recalls, "To be able to help families by providing them accurate information and qualified help would be very satisfying. To my joy, I was provided the opportunity to work in senior care. I go to work every day knowing I am helping others."

Mary Peterson, Client Care Coordinator

My story began after losing my father to cancer in 2006.  For many years I beat myself up wondering what the outcome would have been had we provided my dad with home care.  Fast forward to 2011 after the many stages of grief I was on a mission to educate myself about the benefits of home care and caregivers.  I wanted to turn my experience into a positive one for those who might not know anything about homecare.  I have always found working with people to be an essential part of my life.  I did this as a Personnel man in the Navy and many other jobs thereafter before pursuing a career in home care.  I'm driven by passion and a desire to serve those in need while building meaningful and lasting relationships.

For this reason, I have intentionally chosen to work in Home Care.  I currently have just over 10 years of experience which allows for so many opportunities to help seniors.  My goal is to ensure that client needs are met by coordinating care to keep them at home, healthy, safe, shown love, compassion, grace and assisted in all aspects of daily living.

Bee Valverde, Service Coordinator

Bee began her career with Home Instead as a Care Professional 7 years ago.  She found great satisfaction in helping others and used creative ways to connect with clients and enhance their lives while providing quality care.  She then joined the office administrative staff as the scheduling coordinator in 2019 and happily connects CarePros and clients based on a number of different considerations.

She takes pride in serving the aging adults in our community and approaches work with her personal mantra of being flexible like the children’s cartoon character, Gumby. "Being of service brings such joy to my heart and I consider myself blessed to be able to be part of delivering a service that has such a great impact," says Bee. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, drawing, painting, and working on a children’s book that is in development.
