Home Care Services FAQs

At Home Instead Markham, nursing involvement continues throughout the care relationship. Our nurses oversee assessments, care planning, Care Pro training, and ongoing quality monitoring.

Our leadership team includes three nurses with more than 50 years of combined nursing experience.

That model helps us coordinate different levels of support, particularly when someone has chronic health concerns or more complex needs that may change over time.

Our Markham team serves clients in more than 15 languages, with Cantonese and Mandarin representing the largest language needs.

In a diverse community, communication can affect how comfortable someone feels accepting help in their home. When possible, matching a client with a Care Pro who shares their language and cultural background can make everyday communication and relationship-building easier.

Yes. Our approximately 80 Care Pros support different levels of care, while our nurses provide oversight of assessments, care plans, Care Pro preparation, and ongoing quality.

Someone may initially need relatively straightforward assistance and later require dementia support, chronic condition support, Nurse Directed Care, live-in care, or 24-hour assistance.

The care plan can change rather than assuming the person’s needs will remain the same.

This is a situation our Markham team sees frequently, particularly following hospital discharge.

Government-funded services may provide part of the support someone needs, while a family still faces gaps in the day-to-day care required at home. Private home care can supplement those hours based on the individual’s needs and schedule.

Our nurse-led team can assess what additional support is required and develop a care plan around the services already in place.

Cost depends on the type of support, schedule, and amount of care needed. Live-in care, 24-hour care, and Nurse Directed Care involve different care arrangements from periodic home care visits.

Our team will discuss the proposed care plan with your family.
