This month we recognize Dolapo, for being a Peace Promoter with her senior clients.
Dolapo has a natural ability to navigate challenging situations with calmness, patience, and grace. Her gentle and peaceful demeanor allows the older adults she serves to feel safe, respected, and understood—even when they may be resistant or experiencing difficult moments.
With her most recent client, Dolapo demonstrated this beautifully. Rather than forcing interaction, she gave the client space while continuing to monitor her safety. By remaining patient and allowing the client to approach her on her own terms, Dolapo eventually built a connection through games and a walk together.
Dolapo understands that when a client becomes uncomfortable or when dementia-related behaviours arise, staying calm and giving them time is often the best approach. She never takes these behaviours personally. Instead, she remains respectful, focused, and compassionate, recognizing that her clients’ conditions can affect their moods and behaviours.
Dolapo’s peaceful demeanor is truly her superpower. She creates a safe, gentle environment where her clients can feel comfortable and supported.
