We want to recognize and congratulate Sherri for being chosen the Caregiver of the month for December.

5 years and over 2300 hours, Sherri you have literally driven through storms for your client.  You are a compassionate, dedicated and hard-working caregiver who has a lot of energy.  You started on this Home Instead journey doing overnight care for Evan.  We knew from those first few shifts that you like to keep busy and work hard: on your very first overnight you cut up Uncle Jack’s toffee, on the second night you polished the silver.

This past year you have taken on more care for Mary.  You have taken her to many appointments, helped keep her home just perfect, kept her connected using technology, set up flights, help her pack when travelling, did gardening and yard work, baked and cooked amazing meals and thoroughly sanitized keeping Mary safe through these pandemic years.

You take care of so many little things that add up making a huge difference:  doing up Mary’s seat belt, cooking her favourite meal, taking the garbage to the curb, keeping her home running so smoothly…you are an amazing caregiver giving Mary and her family such piece of mind.  But you are also so much more than that.

Mary herself shared how you have kept everything going for her from shopping to taking her to weekly hair appointments and many Dr’s appointments being a second set of ears for her.  You help her with her TV and her hearing aid, keeping everything organized for her at home, and are so accommodating when changes happen.

If you ask Mary what it means to have you as a caregiver she would say how much you mean to her:  She is like another daughter, she just knows me so well, she already knows what I like to eat or what I need, she keeps my life in a good place. She is pleasant and devoted.  She is always kind and encourages me, reminding me that yes I can do this.  She makes my life so much easier for me.

Mary added that with Sherri there is something to look forward to:  I am alone for 20 hours a day but it is so nice to know that Sherri will be there for 4 of those hours, helping me to get things done, to care and encourage me, with Sherri life is good.

We want to thank and recognize you Sherri for being the amazing caregiver that you are and for being such a special member of Mary’s family.
