We want to recognize and congratulate you Lil for being chosen the Caregiver of the month for October.

Dear Lil,

You joined our team just before COVID-19 affected all of our lives. Your first shift was March 5, 2020. Over the last year and a half you have served over 1400 hours with seven clients.

Everyone has a story about what drew them to contact Home Instead and explore becoming a CAREGiver. The fact that you joined us just prior to the pandemic and you persisted with us in the service of clients is commendable.

When we met you we learned that you are very attentive to detail and are service oriented. You served our clients with compassion and sensitivity.  We appreciate that you are always looking out for your clients and that you speak up and advocate for them, keeping our admin team in the loop of changes and concerns about your clients.  This bolsters our team’s ability to increase the level of care for our people. You are a person who works hard, constantly learns and creates stability for yourself and others.  We watched you move through an incredibly challenging move from your acreage into the city which included loads of work and renovations.  You knew what kinds of adjustments needed to happen in your schedule and managed all of that with grace.

Another word that comes to mind about you is “teachability.”  In your interactions with the Admin Team you consistently demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow… this is a hallmark of being a CAREGiver and you are a great example of that.  We were delighted to see the positive effect the Person-Centered Care Training for Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementia's had on your perspective and approach to providing care for those with people living with the disease. The training experience boosted you to a new gear when it came to serving your clients.  You began adapting the ways you would typically connect and guide.  Techniques like “try three things three different ways” really made an impression on you and you have been diligent to overcome some roadblocks.

It is easy to see that you genuinely care and are very attached to your ladies.  You were one of the first to make a positive connection with KD through engagement in painting, puzzles, etc.  You continue to gain confidence in providing dementia care. You became one of KD’s most trusted people. We also appreciate that you stepped up to provide more hours for KD when the family asked us to provide 24 hour care.  That big push has come to and end now and we are all happy to see KD settled in a new place.  You should be so proud of your contribution to this result.  And this week, when we called to discuss new assignments, you opened your heart to care for new people and recommitted to offering yourself and your time to more clients.  We look forward to seeing you continue to enjoy serving our Home Instead families.

Congratulations, Lil, on being our CAREGiver of the month for October!
