Join us in congratulating Amanda, CAREGiver of the Month for March 2018!
Every month, Home Instead Kelowna recognizes an outstanding CAREGiver for their dedication and excellent work. In March 2018, we celebrate Amanda, for her commitment to professional, quality care for ageing adults.
Eleven years ago I moved to Kelowna with my newborn daughter and my mother from southern Ontario where I was born and raised. From a very young age I realized I liked to help take care of people. In my late teens I was asked to help support my friend during the birth of her first child. That experience led me to become a professional caregiver. After studying for two years and participating in trainings for mental, emotional and physical support and comfort techniques I became a Certified Labour Doula.
I spent the next 20 years supporting mothers and their families through the labour and birth process. Several years ago after some personal experiences with my own family, I started to notice a huge gap in our society around senior support and care, at the same time I started to feel a strong pull to do something about it.
In 2017 I heard about Home Instead and knew that it was a perfect fit to my circle of life care beliefs and today I feel very honoured and blessed to be part of the Home Instead Senior Care team.
Home Instead offers free monthly newsletters with tips and advice for caregivers of elderly loved ones.
