Every month, Home Instead Kelowna recognizes an outstanding CAREGiver for their dedication and excellent work. Marjorie has been a CAREGiver at Home Instead since March 2017.
"I was raised on a farm near Maple Creek, Sask. I had a typical farm life. I rode a school bus into town and rode horses, milked cows, and fed the pigs and chickens. I belonged to the 4H Calf Club. I was the middle child of 3 brothers and 3 sisters. I lived in Calgary for 14 years and worked in data processing in the horse and buggy days of punch cards, big magnetic tapes and computers the size of a pick-up truck. I was also a bartender and worked in nightclubs.I took the LPN course in Whitehorse, Yukon in 1989-90. I worked at Cottonwood for 16 years and Orchard Manor for 8 years. Then I got restless again and applied to Home Instead and I have worked here since March 2017. "I like the accountability that Home Instead has for its clients and CAREGivers. They ensure that clients receive quality care and the support and that the CAREGivers receive training."
