The Walk for Alzheimer’s is Canada’s largest fundraising event for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. You have the chance to join thousands of Canadians who want to see a world without dementia. All across the nation, throughout the months of May and June, over 150 communities will host their local Walk’s for Alzheimer’s.
Fundraising efforts are already on the go for each area involved – you can donate right now by sponsoring an individual walker or a registered team; just check the list for an area near you! The funds will be used to support programs and services that exist in your neighbourhood, to improve the quality of life for those suffering with dementia. Extremely important public awareness and education programs will also receive a portion of the fundraising efforts.
In the past, the Walk for Alzheimer’s has raised close to 5 million dollars. This year, they have already collected over 2 million (…and counting)! Don’t forget to donate! Another way you can participate is by joining the Alzheimer’s #ShowASPYourShoes challenge! Take creative photos of you and your friends’ shoes and post them on Facebook or Twitter, making sure to use the tags @ALZPeel and #ShowASPYourShoes. Check out some of the cool photos from last year:
